Deborah Dalton Millinery
From my workroom in Hampshire, I design and create chic and unique little hats and headpieces for women who want to add the finishing touch to a special outfit worn for a special occasion.
I work in close consultation with each client to ensure that the finished millinery meets her requirements in terms of comfort and creativity.
Using high quality materials, every piece is entirely hand crafted to ensure a couture finish.
So, whatever the event, I can make a little hat or headpiece that will exactly match or complement your ensemble, suit your style and personality and definitely won’t be worn by any other guest!
About Deborah Dalton
Home is where one starts from. These words of T.S. Eliot from 'East Coker' really sum up my past and present careers.
My first career drew on the love of theatre, drama, literature and poetry given to me by my mother and the skills and pleasure of handcrafts taught by my grandmother came in very useful, when, as a specialist teacher of speech and drama, school productions required not only distinctive and original direction but also costumes, scenery or props produced quickly and at little expense!
I am so grateful to these wonderful women who encouraged my creativity and gave me the confidence to apply a wide range of ideas and imagination to the practical drama work and special projects offered to my pupils.
To this 'inheritance', I have added my own enthusiasm for languages and travel; a desire to understand how the character of a country is reflected through words and music, art and cooking, landscape and architecture.
So, now as I embark on my new venture as a milliner, all these interests and aptitudes come together in the form of my little hats and headpieces created by hand and inspired by ideas and experiences gathered from so many sources.
Throughout my working life, I have demanded the highest standards from myself and my mantra is
Good enough isn’t good enough for me! Excellence is what I value and therefore every piece of millinery I produce must be designed with originality, crafted to a couture standard and bring joy and pleasure to the wearer.
I hope you will see these qualities for yourself in the photographs on the Collections page or if you book a consultation with me. I aim to create headpieces that will delight the client whenever and wherever she wears it.
